With a scaled-down orchestra primarily emphasizing strings and woodwinds, the music lives or dies on its rhythmic intensity, and Howard does not disappoint. The Fugitive never mistakes suspense for bombast, instead favoring mystery and portent to capture the danger that lurks around every narrative corner. Elektra's official soundtrack release is nevertheless a disappointment, with a complete lack of photos and production data. Here's hoping an expanded and improved reissue is in the works.
