Luca Pisaroni Bass-Baritone Italian bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni has established himself as one of the most charismatic and versatile singers performing today. Since his debut at age 26 with the Vienna Philharmonic at the Salzburg Festival, led by Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Pisaroni has continued to appear at the world’s leading opera houses, concert halls, and festivals. Pisaroni begins the 2015,16 season as Count Almaviva in a new production of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at Lyric Opera of Chicago, a role that he will revisit at the Metropolitan Opera and the Wiener Staatsoper. Mr. Pisaroni will sing Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Berlin’s Staatsoper and makes his house debut in the title role of Rossini’s Maometto II at the Canadian Opera Company, a role he previously performed at the Santa Fe Opera to wide critical acclaim. He will conclude his season performing both Leporello and Count Almaviva at the Salzburg Festival in the "Mozart-Da Ponte" trilogy directed by Sven-Eric Bechtolf. Mr. Pisaroni’s concert appearances this season include Mozart’s Requiem and Pärt’s Miserere with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Concentus Musicus Wien, on tour in Vienna and Hamburg and Gala Concerts with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. Pisaroni is a passionate and compelling recitalist and in 2015,16 he performs a variety of programs with pianist Wolfram Rieger at Wigmore Hall, Club musical de Québec, Amici della musica in Firenze, Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the Vienna Konzerthaus. Luca Pisaroni’s diverse operatic repertoire includes performances of Enrico VIII in Anna Bolena at Opernhaus Zürich and Wiener Staatsoper; Alidoro in La Cenerentola and Caliban in The Enchanted Island at the Met; Le nozze di Figaro at Opéra National de Paris, San Francisco Opera, Vienna State Opera, and at Bayerische Staatsoper; Leporello in Don Giovanni at Glyndebourne, the Metropolitan Opera, Salzburg Festival and at Tanglewood with the Boston Symphony under James Levine; Guglielmo in Così fan tutte at Glyndebourne and the Salzburg Festival; Conte Dorval in Martin y Soler’s Il Burbero di Buon Cuore at Teatro Real; Enrico in Haydn’s L’Isola Disabitata at Vienna's Musikverein and Tiridate in Radamisto at Santa Fe Opera. He sang Argante in Rinaldo at Chicago’s Lyric Opera; the title role in Cavalli's Ercole Amante with De Nederlandse Opera, Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas for the Wiener Festwochen, and Don Fernando in Beethoven’s Fidelio with the San Francisco Symphony. In concert, Pisaroni has performed Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Los Angeles Philharmonic; Haydn’s Die Jahreszeiten at the Musikverein Wien, under Nikolaus Harnoncourt; Rossini's Stabat Mater with Franz Welser-Möst; Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri with Sir Simon Rattle and the Philadelphia Orchestra; Schumann’s Faustszenen with Daniel Harding and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has also sung Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Michael Tilson Thomas and Gustavo Dudamel; Mozart’s Requiem with Yuri Temirkanov for the Accademia di Santa Cecilia; Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem under Edo de Waart; Bach’s B Minor Mass with the Gewandhausorchester; Mendelssohn’s Die erste Walpurgisnacht with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s at Carnegie Hall, under the baton of Pablo Heras-Casado; Hasse’s I Pellegrini al Sepolcro di Nostro Signore, and Cherubini’s Missa Solemnis under Riccardo Muti; Haydn’s Die Schöpfung with Daniel Harding and Bach’s Cantatas under the direction of Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Concentus Musicus Wien. In addition to his extensive opera and concert appearances, Pisaroni has performed recitals at Carnegie Hall, Ravinia Festival, the Concertgebouw, Edinburgh Festival, the Vienna Musikverein, Vancouver Recital Society and the Dortmund Konzerthaus, among other major international venues. Mr. Pisaroni’s has recorded for all major labels and his discography includes Don Giovanni and Rinaldo from the Glyndebourne Festival, Le nozze di Figaro with the Opéra National de Paris, Così fan tutte and Don Giovanni from the Salzburg Festival, and a recording of Don Giovanni with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Additional audio releases include Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra, alongside a spectacular cast including Thomas Hampson, Joseph Calleja, and Kristine Opolais, as well as Don Giovanni from the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden, also featuring Anna Netrebko and Erwin Schrott. Pisaroni was also honored with the 2015 "Wiener Flötenuhr" Award, given by the city of Vienna in collaboration with the Mozarthaus Vienna, to recognize his significant performances of Mozart's works, through recordings and live stage interpretations. Luca Pisaroni lives in Vienna with his wife, Catherine. Their golden retriever Lenny 2.0 and miniature dachshund Tristan are the singer's constant traveling companions.
