I see fellow RYMers don't express much esctasy about this new BD load. Me on the other hand is pretty much pleased. Don’t know if this 5 is overreaction from the missing of old twisted-brain mates but I like. Their claustrophobic path which started circa 2005 now is polished to the frightening degree of cheerful mid-tempo idiocy. It goes best with their Gore book – lush, cynically cyclical collages of pointless lessons told in dubious pitch and meter. No big emotions, just infernal silhouettes jamming the little Tasmanian devil favorite tunes in a busket full of assorted bullshit. It's a new "Exile From Main Street" for unmoduled microdecadent dipshits. Black Dice continue to plunder the post-modern kitsch storehouse which is all good and well as long as they bring something oddly shaped, beautifully trashy, existentially absurd and/or provocatively exciting out to show us. Unfortunately all I can find in their latest debris pile is a lazy and uninspired mishmash with only the merest hint of anything I would want to take home to tinker with. Where are the felt black-light posters of panthers and the edible bikinis?
