风格
by Scott Yanow Al Hirt has always seemed a bit overqualified for the music he performs, but his early Dixieland dates have their moments of interest. However, by the early '60s, his career took a much more commercial turn (especially on records), and this album was one of the low points. Joined by the insipid Anita Kerr Singers and arrangements that would have embarrassed most country-pop singers of the era, Hirt plays consistently corny trumpet on such songs as "Cotton Candy," "Hello Dolly" (a surprisingly weak version), "Walkin' With Mr. Lee" and an unlistenable "12th Street Rag." This album is only worth getting as an example of how bad Al Hirt's taste could be.
