linton s. garner,composer and pianist, the older brother of erroll garner, and a pianist in the fletcher henderson orchestra. he served in the u.s. military during world war ii, then was a pianist and arranger for billy eckstine's orchestra, and an arranger for dizzy gillespie. from 1947, he was a pianist in small groups, and he joined ascap in 1960.
