Genre: Melodic Death Metal Formed in: 2010 Members: Marshall Dexter - Guitars Brett Reid - Vocals Robert Brinton - Guitars Taylor Laroche - Bass Kurtis Marceniuk - Drums Tyrant is a five-piece heavy metal band hailing from the small town of Gibbons, Alberta. Influenced by bands like Metallica, As I Lay Dying, Lamb of God, and Sylosis, the band combines modern metal with classic thrash metal. Tyrant’s melodic lead lines, shredding solos and powerful screams create high-energy songs, which bleed into their live show. Tyrant’s live performances include heavy music, lots of head banging, and usually at least one member of the band in the crowd moshing. Tyrant won nationals for Rogers Wireless Battle of The bands (Canada) in 2011. They also co-headlined Metalfest (Edmonton) 2011 with All Else Fails, played at Boonstock 2011 with Five Finger Death Punch and A Perfect ‘circle, and just recently played at Loud As Hell with Protest The Hero, Ninjaspy, and Titans Eve.
