when dr. emil lanfield is convicted of the murder of his nurse, newspaper-reporter steve manninon becomes interested in the doctor's daughter, elsa, and keeps digging into the case. with the aid of a friend, he gets enough evidence to get a re-trial but before this happens, the doctor's dying wife confesses she shot the nurse in a jealous rage. end of film? not quite.
