leslie phillips is better known as singer/songwriter sam phillips; dancing with danger is one of her early releases, made before she took on her nickname and crossed over into secular music. while the focus of the album is on dance music, phillips' pop smarts are already evident, and her songwriting is unconventionial (especially for christian music), centering thoughtfully on crises of faith and the spirit instead of falling prey to homilies and platitudes.
