中央音乐学院作曲系(the composition department of the central conservatory of music) 始建于1950年4月,与学院同时诞生。建系之初由著名作曲家、理论家、音乐教育家江定仙教授任首届系主任,在聚集原南京国立音乐院理论作曲系、燕京大学音乐系理论作曲科、国立北平艺术专科学校音乐系理论作曲专业组以及全国乃至海外归国的著名作曲家、专家学者基础上,形成一支实力雄厚、高水平的师资队伍。
